5 medium sized potatoes, peeled and chopped
1 pound ground meat
6 slices American cheese
1 (10.75oz.) Can condensed golden mushroom soup
3 teaspoons butter (optional)

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Place the potatoes in a large pot and add enough water to cover. Bring tobring to a boil. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, or until they are soft. Drain and mash.
While the potatoes are cooking, crumble the ground meat into a large skillet over medium heat. Cook and stir until evenly browned. The fat drip off. Stir in mushroom soup.
Transfer mixture into an 8-inch square baking dish. Layer the cheese slices on the meat. Spread mashed potatoes evenly over the top. Dot with butter.
